1980s makeup
The 1980s, saw very very bright eye looks using colors in vibrant hues like blue, purple, electric blue, green, and orange (Vintage Make-Up Looks). The bright eyes were often paired with very bright and glossy lip colors such as red, pink or coral (Tiny Touchups). Pale skin had made a comeback with very vibrant blush applied in a stripe down the cheek, rarely blended out (Vintage Make-Up Looks). A highlighter was applied above the blush to make it stand out more and to help catch the light. Thick and dark eyeliner was applied to upper and lower eyelids with more sparsely used false eyelashes (Vintage Make-Up Looks). Natural thick eyebrows were all the rage and brows were still filled in using similar colored eyeshadows. Madonna had become a makeup icon which led women to use brown eyeliners to draw on beauty marks to mimic Madonna’s look (Tiny Touchups).

1990s makeup
The 1990s have been classified as the grunge end to the millennium and seen as very individualistic. The most noticeable trend that came out of the 90s is a fresh face (Addicted Cosmetics). Light coverage foundations, a very big transition from the 80s. Little powder just to keep from getting oily throughout the day, with blushes just adding a little color to the face, not in vibrant colors, but blended very well for a natural glow (Addicted Cosmetics). Eyeshadows, eyeliners, and mascaras were applied very subtly just to enhance the natural beauty and not to completely change the outward appearance (Addicted Cosmetics). Eyebrows were defined and arched but still keeping the natural brow shape and lightly filled in. Bright lipsticks had faded out, and muted dark sophisticated reds had come back into play and were worn very tastefully on an everyday basis by working class women (Addicted Cosmetics).
